Originally from Memphis Tennessee, Tracy Maddox is of Irish and Native American descent. Most of her childhood was spent in Dyersburg, just eighty miles north of Memphis. This tiny cotton mill town was where her ‘Traveler’ Irish ancestors had settled years before. She credits this Traveler and Chickasaw background for her restless spirit and love of story.
After several moves herself, Tracy finally settled in Los Angeles. There she has had the great fortune to train with many noted and gifted teachers, including Patsy Rodenberg (RADA), Larry Moss, and Sam Anderson (of Lost fame). She’s also been fortunate to work in television and independent film with people such as Dylan McDermott and Lauren Graham.
Inspired by her family’s Traveler stories Ms. Maddox is currently working on a book on the subject and recently returned from a research trip to Dyersburg and Memphis in order to put the finishing touches on her first draft.
In addition to her work as an actor, Tracy is a dedicated animal activist. A vegan and advocate for all animals Ms. Maddox believes that nonviolence toward all living beings is mankind’s best hope for a sustainable future. Admitting to a particular weakness for dogs and large dogs in particular, she works with several area rescues with a goal of ending animal homelessness in Los Angeles and moving toward a “no kill” city policy.
She currently resides in Los Angeles with her cat and three fabulous dogs.
